About The Position

The Sheet Metal Foreman oversees field installation, fabrication, and coordination of sheet metal systems on commercial, and industrial projects. This role ensures work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications, codes, and company standards, while consistently demonstrating trustworthiness and accountability in all jobsite activities. The Foreman leads a crew of sheet metal workers by modeling a strong, positive work ethic, setting clear expectations, and maintaining consistent productivity and quality. Through team‑oriented leadership, the Foreman manages daily operations, supports crew development, and fosters a respectful, collaborative work environment. Serving as the primary point of communication between field teams, project managers, and other trades, the Sheet Metal Foreman acts as a reliable and effective team player, promoting coordination, problem‑solving, and mutual respect to ensure successful project execution.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of sheet metal installation or fabrication experience
  • 1–3 years of supervisory or lead role experience
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, ductwork installation, and sheet metal fabrication techniques
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and mechanical plans
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and sheet metal equipment
  • Excellent leadership, organization, and communication skills
  • Strong problem‑solving abilities and attention to detail
  • Valid driver’s license; reliable transportation
  • Proficiency in handling Heavy Equipment and tools used in sheet metal work

Nice To Haves

  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
  • Experience in commercial HVAC or large‑scale construction projects
  • Ability to operate lifts, ladders, and jobsite equipment
  • Familiarity with workplace safety requirements and procedures
  • High school diploma or equivalent: technical certifications in the related fields

Responsibilities

  • Supervising team members
  • Coordinating work schedules
  • Inspecting completed work for quality
  • Managing equipment and materials
  • Ensuring adherence to safety standards and project specifications
  • Leading, directing, and mentoring crews of sheet metal installers and apprentices
  • Planning daily work activities, assigning tasks, and ensuring productivity goals are met
  • Providing on‑the‑job training, coaching, and performance feedback
  • Maintaining a positive, safe, and professional work environment
  • Overseeing installation of ductwork, HVAC components, flashings, and other sheet metal systems
  • Reviewing blueprints, mechanical drawings, and specifications to ensure accurate installation
  • Coordinating layout, measurements, and field fabrication as needed
  • Monitoring quality and ensuring work meets industry, code, and company standards
  • Working closely with project managers, general contractors, and other trades to maintain workflow and resolve field issues
  • Attending jobsite meetings and providing updates on progress, manpower, and material needs
  • Communicating changes, delays, and safety concerns promptly
  • Enforcing all company and jobsite safety policies and procedures
  • Conducting daily safety meetings and toolbox talks
  • Ensuring crew compliance with OSHA, local codes, and job‑specific requirements
  • Identifying hazards and taking corrective action to prevent accidents
  • Ordering and managing tools, materials, and equipment needed for daily operations
  • Tracking and reporting labor hours, material usage, and project milestones
  • Assisting in planning look‑ahead schedules to keep the project on track
  • Reducing waste and ensuring efficient use of resources
