The Sheet Metal Operator – Brake is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC press brake equipment to produce quality sheet metal components. This role ensures parts are manufactured accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with engineering specifications and company quality standards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to understand and follow directions from supervisors.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and instructions.
  • Basic mathematical and measurement skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to monitor performance and make adjustments as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of CNC operations and tooling preferred.
  • Forklift certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC press brake machines to produce required parts.
  • Select appropriate tools and input CNC commands to ensure proper machine operation.
  • Set up punches and tooling for various operations.
  • Run production parts according to specifications and required quantities.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, instructions, and specifications.
  • Distinguish between different gauges and types of materials.
  • Measure and verify part accuracy using tape measures, calipers, and other tools.
  • Ensure proper punch placement and part dimensions meet requirements.
  • Monitor product quality by taking measurements and identifying defects.
  • Detect malfunctions and troubleshoot machine or process issues.
  • Adjust machine settings or reprogram controls as needed to maintain quality standards.
  • Inspect finished parts to ensure they meet company and customer expectations.
  • Perform routine cleaning and basic maintenance on equipment.
  • Operate machinery safely and in compliance with company safety standards.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Report equipment issues or maintenance needs promptly.
  • Prioritize work based on production schedules and department needs.
  • Accurately record labor through time and attendance systems.
  • Follow manufacturing instructions and complete assignments independently.
  • Work overtime as needed to meet production demands.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment in compliance with company policies.
  • Follow all company procedures, policies, and applicable regulations.
  • Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • Collaborate with team members to support production goals.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
