About The Position

Atlantic Constructors is seeking a career-minded Sheet Metal Assistant Superintendent for commercial sheetmetal operations. Under the direction of the Superintendent, this role helps manage onsite teams, jobsite logistics, and safety compliance. It also involves directly performing a wide range of skilled construction tasks related to sheetmetal installation and equipment. The position includes supervising crews, coordinating work and deliveries, supporting quality installation, and maintaining project tools and work areas. Work may take place at multiple job sites and may involve travel, typically without overnight stays.

Requirements

At least 5 years of commercial experience in field sheetmetal operations, or an equivalent combination of vocational training and experience.
Extensive knowledge of air systems installation.
Ability to successfully supervise crews.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of man-hour reports, job-cost reports, workforce planning, and estimating.
Understanding of construction cost control, forecasting, and goal setting.
Ability to work across varied disciplines and effectively present information to customers, clients, and colleagues.
Knowledge of other mechanical trade disciplines.
Ability to multitask, work with minimal supervision, follow written and oral instructions, pay attention to detail, and demonstrate problem-solving skills.
Must adhere to company policies and procedures.
Must be available and have the means to report to multiple job sites as assigned.
Able to meet the role’s work-environment and physical demands, including working in varying indoor and outdoor conditions, potentially in inclement weather, noise, dust, confined spaces, or at heights.
Able to use construction equipment, including heavy machinery, hand tools, and power tools.
Able to climb, bend, pull, reach overhead, stand or walk for extended periods, and lift up to 50 pounds.
Able to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
Able to identify all colors of color-coded cables or wires and demonstrate close and distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Nice To Haves

At least 5 years of experience in a heavy mechanical construction environment.
Prior military experience.
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
OSHA 30 training and CPR.

Responsibilities

Provide on-site supervision of commercial sheetmetal crews.
Promote and monitor safety across jobsite activities.
Work with subcontractors, foremen, tradespeople, and the general contractor to remove obstacles and improve efficiency.
Plan, schedule, and coordinate onsite functions.
Perform material take-offs and order tools, materials, and equipment in a timely manner to support field productivity.
Ensure quality installation of sheetmetal activities.
Coordinate, inspect, and track deliveries against shipping documents.
Coordinate labor and equipment for loading, unloading, and distributing materials onsite.
Forecast labor needs to the Superintendent and foremen based on anticipated deliveries.
Directly perform a wide range of skilled construction tasks.
Monitor daily activities and compile reports on progress, compliance, and obstacles.
Enforce safety and legal regulations to maintain a safe jobsite.
Communicate with subcontractors and field staff to ensure adherence to schedules, plans, and specifications.
Manage, inspect, and maintain shared project tools.
Maintain cleanliness of the trailer, work area, and material storage area.
Perform other duties as assigned.
