About The Position

Atlantic Constructors is seeking a motivated Assistant Superintendent for Commercial Sheetmetal. This working supervisory role helps manage onsite teams, jobsite logistics, and safety compliance under the direction of the Superintendent. Alongside supervisory duties, the assistant superintendent directly performs skilled construction tasks involving sheetmetal installation and equipment. The position may require travel, typically not overnight, and availability to report to multiple job sites.

Requirements

At least 5 years of commercial experience in field sheetmetal operations, or an equivalent combination of vocational training and experience.
Extensive knowledge of air systems installation.
Ability to successfully supervise crews.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of man-hour reports, job-cost reports, workforce planning, and estimating.
Understanding of construction cost control, forecasting, and goal setting.
Ability to work across varied disciplines and communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Knowledge of other mechanical trade disciplines.
Ability to present information effectively to customers, clients, and colleagues.
Ability to multitask, work with minimal supervision, follow written and oral instructions, pay attention to detail, and solve problems.
Must adhere to company policies and procedures.
Must be available and have the means to report to multiple job sites as assigned.
Ability to meet the physical and environmental demands of the role, including working in varying temperatures and weather, in areas with moderate or high noise, around fumes or airborne particles, and in confined spaces or at heights.
Ability to use construction equipment, including heavy machinery, hand tools, and power tools.
Ability to climb, bend, pull, reach overhead, stand or walk for extended periods, and lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls and to reach with hands and arms.
Ability to correctly identify all colors of color-coded cables or wires, with close and distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Nice To Haves

At least 5 years of experience in a heavy mechanical construction environment.
Prior military experience.
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
OSHA 30 training and CPR.

Responsibilities

Provide on-site supervision of commercial sheetmetal crews.
Promote and monitor safety across all aspects of the jobsite.
Work with subcontractors, foremen, tradesmen, and the general contractor to remove obstacles and improve efficiency.
Plan, schedule, and coordinate on-site functions.
Perform material take-offs and order tools, materials, and equipment in a timely manner to maximize field productivity.
Ensure quality installation of sheetmetal activities.
Coordinate, inspect, and track deliveries against shipping documents.
Coordinate labor and equipment for loading, unloading, and distributing materials onsite.
Forecast labor needs to the Superintendent and foremen based on anticipated deliveries.
Directly perform a wide range of skilled construction tasks.
Monitor daily activities and compile reports on progress, compliance, and obstacles.
Enforce safety and legal regulations to maintain a safe jobsite.
Communicate with subcontractors and field staff to ensure adherence to schedules, plans, and specifications.
Manage, inspect, and maintain shared project tools.
Maintain cleanliness of the trailer, work area, and material storage area.
Perform other duties as assigned.
