About The Position

Gateway Mechanical is currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Sheet Metal Apprentice (2nd/3rd year) to join our team in Calgary. This is a great opportunity to grow your skills and build a career with a respected industry leader. The successful candidate will assist with the installation and fabrication of ductwork, hangers, and HVAC equipment and systems, while working closely with other trades on various job sites.

Requirements

• Registered Sheet Metal Apprentice with a valid apprenticeship certification
• Solid understanding of construction practices and building codes
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and shop drawings
• Valid Class 5 driver's license and a clean 5-year driving abstract

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in the construction or HVAC industry is an asset
• Valid safety certifications, including First Aid, Elevated Work Platform (EWP), and Fall Protection are considered an asset

Responsibilities

• Install and fabricate ductwork, hangers, and related HVAC components
• Assemble and install fire dampers
• Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and specifications
• Prepare materials and consumables lists for project leads
• Assist in determining roof layouts and planning installations
• Coordinate effectively with other trades on-site to ensure seamless project execution
• Complete required safety inspections, field-level hazard assessments, and reports
• Perform additional duties as assigned within the scope of the role
