About The Position

Operate a shear to cut parts per customer order. This role involves heavy work, requiring the exertion of up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The operator will review work orders, retrieve and stage material for shearing, and ensure material is cut to meet work order requirements and tolerances. Responsibilities also include packaging material, completing paperwork and data entry, performing preventive maintenance on the shear, maintaining a clean work area, operating material handling equipment, assisting with loading/unloading trucks, and performing other warehouse duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Read and understand English
• Basic math skills
• Knowledge of how to convert fractions to decimals and decimals to fractions
• How to read a tape measure
• Computer data entry

Responsibilities

• Reviews work orders to determine material needed
• Retrieves material and stages for shearing
• Shears material per work order requirements
• Measures material as needed to ensure tolerances are met
• Ensures measuring devices are in good working order
• Packages material as needed for storage or shipment
• Completes and submits all required paperwork
• Completes all required computer/data entry
• Performs preventive maintenance on shear as assigned
• Maintains a clean and neat work area
• Operates a forklift, crane, or other material handling equipment as needed
• Assists with loading or unloading trucks
• Assists with any other warehouse duties as assigned
