About The Position

The Shave Research Engineer role supports business needs as outlined by the Senior Manager, Shave Science and Emerging Technology. They work with limited oversight to develop a research investigation plan and conduct research related to projects and project teams. The teammate will conduct in-depth analyses and integration of data derived from single or multiple tests to present a comprehensive picture and recommended actions. The individual coordinates the development and implementation of new methods to address specific product, process, and consumer issues. This role supports Edgewell’s mission to Make Useful Things Joyful by delivering transformative innovative concepts and technologies against unmet consumer and business needs. The role will work closely with Marketing and Product Testing teams to design and execute user studies that generate meaningful evidence of product performance improvements. These insights will inform iterative development, enabling the refinement of concepts based on both lab data and real-world user feedback.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related Engineering field
  • Practical experience in Research and Development

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of prototyping experience
  • Ability to work with engineers, technicians and toolmakers
  • Provide support to other departments, program management teams and manufacturing
  • Proficient in design and making prototyping fixtures for new concept study
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in machining, metal forming and other nontraditional processes such as EDM and CNC
  • Proficient in mechanical property tests such as tensile, elongation and microhardness testing
  • Knowledge in chemical analysis and Microstructure of steel
  • Proficient in Windows applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Lead one or more projects of greater level of complexity and scientific challenge.
  • May guide and/or coordinate tasks of Technicians, Interns, or Temporary personnel.
  • Design and execution of research investigations consistent with sound, robust scientific investigations that meet international standards and are defensible in front of the scientific community.
  • Presentation of all information in a manner that is coherent and accurately reflects the results obtained in the research investigation.
  • Maintain, train, and operate the equipment necessary for setting, potting, cross-sectioning and polishing metallographic samples.
  • Maintain and operate all equipment in the Metallurgical Lab in proper working order.
  • Maintain, train, operate and evaluate the equipment necessary for prototype development.
  • Maintain and operate all equipment in the Architecture Lab in proper working order.
  • Provide support for all assembly and testing equipment within the Prototype Lab.
  • Facilitate the design and implementation of prototype assembly fixtures.
