Ontic’s Chatsworth, CA, site specializes in precision engineering, MRO, and new solutions for parts at risk of obsolescence. With over 1,700 employees across four time zones and ten sites, we have more than doubled in size since 2019 and are continuing to grow at pace. Our team is looking for a Shared Services Planner to join them. You will report to the Planning Manager and will have an onsite work structure in Chatsworth, CA.

Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • 3+ years of production planning, scheduling, manufacturing coordination, or related experience.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment, preferably supporting machining, fabrication, coating, or paint operations.
  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Oracle, Epicor, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in aerospace, defense, or other regulated industries preferred.
  • APICS/ASCM CPIM certification or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience with capacity planning is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain detailed production schedules for Machine Shop and Paint departments.
  • Coordinate workflow and capacity planning to optimize throughput and minimize bottlenecks.
  • Prioritize work orders based on customer requirements, production constraints, and business objectives.
  • Monitor schedule adherence and proactively adjust plans to address changing priorities or operational disruptions.
  • Release and manage work orders in ERP system.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Procurement, and Supply Chain teams to ensure material and resource availability.
  • Facilitate communication between Machine Shop and Paint teams to maintain smooth production flow.
  • Participate in daily production meetings and provide updates on schedule status, risks, and recovery plans.
  • Analyze labor, equipment, and facility capacity to support production demands.
  • Identify constraints and recommend solutions to improve efficiency and throughput.
  • Balance workloads across available resources while maintaining quality and delivery objectives.
  • Monitor material availability and coordinate with Supply Chain to prevent shortages.
  • Track work-in-process (WIP) inventory and ensure timely movement through production stages.
  • Support inventory accuracy initiatives and cycle counting activities as needed.
  • Analyze trends and identify opportunities for process improvements.
  • Support standard work development and best practices across planning functions.
