About The Position

Knowsley Shared Lives Scheme, part of Knowsley Council, is recruiting self-employed Shared Lives Carers to welcome people with care or support needs into their homes. The role may involve long-term support, with the person living with the carer as part of their family, or respite support, with stays ranging from one night to three months. Long-term carers must live within the Knowsley boundary; there is no Knowsley residency requirement for providing respite care. The scheme matches carers with people they may be suited to support, taking into account shared interests, likes, and preferences. Carers receive full training and support from a team of Shared Lives Workers. Payment is between £500 and £600 per week. Applicants complete an assessment including character, employer, and GP references, a Disclosure and Barring Service check, and a health and safety check of their property. An independent panel approves the assessment.
