Reporting to the Senior Construction Manager of SGR, the SGR Construction Manager – Lead-In & Removals will be responsible for construction readiness and execution planning for the Steam Generator Replacement lead-in and removals scope, including work package readiness, labour and supervision planning, tooling and logistics integration, constructability reviews, and field execution governance.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive construction leadership experience, preferably in nuclear refurbishment, major component replacement, heavy industrial, power generation, or complex infrastructure environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large multidisciplinary construction teams in a highly regulated environment with a strong focus on safety, quality, and human performance.
  • Strong knowledge of construction planning, workface planning, schedule integration, field execution, risk management, and construction readiness governance.
  • Experience managing unionized trade labour, subcontractors, supervision, and field support teams in a project- or outage-based construction environment.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to work confidently with OPG, CanAtom leadership, engineering, procurement, quality, EHS, labour relations, and field execution teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead construction readiness/planning and execution for the Steam Generator Replacement lead-in and removals scope within the Pickering RFBR project.
  • Build and staff an experienced SGR construction team, including supervisors, coordinators, field engineers, workface planners, and support personnel.
  • Integrate with engineering, procurement, tooling, logistics, quality, and project controls to ensure SGR construction packages are ready for execution.
  • Develop labour, supervision, and resource plans aligned with RFBR schedule milestones, outage strategy, and station access requirements.
  • Work with Labour Relations to proactively manage unionized trade labour requirements, jurisdictional considerations, onboarding, training, and field performance expectations.
  • Oversee field execution readiness, including constructability reviews, execution sequencing, workface planning, temporary services, laydown, access, and heavy component handling interfaces.
  • Maintain direct alignment with EHS and Human Performance leadership to reinforce Safety Always, nuclear safety culture, error reduction tools, observation and coaching, and event-free execution.
  • Manage construction interfaces with OPG station counterparts, CanAtom project leadership, engineering, procurement, quality, scheduling, subcontractors, and supporting suppliers.
  • Ensure all assigned SGR execution resources complete the required project, station, safety, quality, and role-specific training before field deployment.
  • Monitor construction performance against safety, quality, schedule, productivity, cost, and readiness indicators, escalating risks and removing barriers to execution.
  • Support the development of SGR execution strategies, mock-up and training requirements, work control improvements, lessons learned, and unit-over-unit continuous improvement plans.
  • Ensure all work is planned and performed in accordance with applicable nuclear quality requirements, construction procedures, work packages, permits, hold points, and OPG site expectations.
  • Identify key-person succession and development plans for supervisors and field leaders supporting the SGR scope.
  • Provide visible field leadership through observations, coaching, pre-job briefs, readiness reviews, risk reviews, and construction leadership engagement.
