Reports to the General Assembly, and shall work office hours throughout the fall and spring Semesters. Be available to Senators to provide resources and University Connection. Act as the link between the Senate and the Executive Branch. Assist Senators in developing a thorough understanding of: University, System, and Finance policies; Shared Governance; Gaining confidence within the organization; and Robert’s Rules of Order, by conducting a training session at the beginning of each semester. A training session is only necessary at the beginning of Spring semester if there are new Senators who have not completed the training previously; Chair Rules Committee and coordinate Senate Agendas and Minutes. Post the agenda and make it available to the student body in accordance with Wisconsin Open Meeting Laws. Create a welcoming environment at the weekly Senate meeting. Serve as Parliamentarian for Student Government Association. Nominate a Speaker Pro Tempore and Deputy Sergeant-at-Arms to be approved through Senate by a simple majority vote during the Speaker’s report. Attend all Senate and Executive Board Meetings. Appoint three (3) Associate Justices to the Judicial Branch Work with the Speaker Pro Tempore to develop a Student Senator Handbook. Organize Bills passed the General Assembly through maintenance of a Bill Binder and continue the Bill numbering system. Meet with the Executive Director at least once a month. Help the President, Vice President, Executive Director and the Advisor to organize the internal Student Government Association awards at the end of the year. Meets with the Speaker Pro Tempore at least bi-weekly. Assigns outreach hours and organizes submitted outreach hours.
