About The Position

Sustainable Growth Advisers (SGA), an investment manager with approximately $20 billion in assets under management and 35 employees, is seeking an experienced research analyst to join its investment team. SGA focuses on long-only, long-term investments in high-quality, profitable, secular growth companies, emphasizing bottom-up research and in-depth company and industry understanding. Portfolios are concentrated in 15-35 high-conviction companies with significant return potential. The firm's culture values self-starters who are independent, critical thinkers capable of collaborative work. Analysts who demonstrate long-term contributions to client portfolio success may have the opportunity to become equity partners or transition into portfolio management roles.

Requirements

  • 3–10 years of professional experience in equity research.
  • Strong grounding in bottom-up, fundamental analysis.
  • Buy-side coverage experience is required.
  • Direct experience making investment recommendations within an asset-management, hedge fund, mutual fund, or similar buy-side environment.
  • Demonstrated sector-specific expertise (e.g., Consumer, TMT, Industrials, Healthcare, Financials, Energy, etc.).
  • Proven ability to build, maintain, and update detailed financial models.
  • Proven ability to conduct differentiated research.
  • Evidence of a repeatable investment process, including idea generation, deep due diligence, valuation work, and clear communication of insights.
  • Track record of high-conviction investment recommendations, grounded in rigorous analysis and supported by data-driven reasoning.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a tight-knit investment team.
  • High integrity, intellectual curiosity, and a long-term oriented mindset.
  • U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency (Green Card holder) is required.
  • Must not require sponsorship for work visas or support for OPT/CPT programs.

Nice To Haves

  • Sell-side backgrounds will be considered only if candidates have subsequently moved into the buy-side and can demonstrate progression in investment responsibility.
  • Strong appetite to evolve into a generalist over time—comfortable expanding beyond prior sector specialization and developing research coverage across multiple industries as career growth continues.
  • Local to the tristate area is preferred.
