About The Position

Waymo is an autonomous driving technology company with the mission to be the world's most trusted driver. Since its start as the Google Self-Driving Car Project in 2009, Waymo has focused on building the Waymo Driver—The World's Most Experienced Driver™—to improve access to mobility while saving thousands of lives now lost to traffic crashes. The Waymo Driver powers Waymo’s fully autonomous ride-hail service and can also be applied to a range of vehicle platforms and product use cases. The Waymo Driver has provided over ten million rider-only trips, enabled by its experience autonomously driving over 100 million miles on public roads and tens of billions in simulation across 15+ U.S. states. Waymo Operations exists to deliver the Waymo Driver to the world. We are a global team building and scaling the world's first and leading autonomous fleet and operations platform. From component sourcing to end customer management, we enable and create value for Waymo through scaled and orchestrated deployment of the Waymo Driver. At Waymo, we are dedicated to building a culture that promotes collaboration and celebration. We value our team members' unique backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences and support and encourage all team members to share their ideas to help Waymo better serve the communities in which we operate.

Requirements

  • 5+ Years of Specialized Experience: Proven track record in commercial operations or logistics with a primary focus on large-scale fleet readiness or AV/EV maintenance programs.
  • EV Platform Scaling: Direct experience managing or scaling electric vehicle fleets, including an understanding of high-voltage systems, charging infrastructure, and thermal management.
  • Vendor Management Excellence: Demonstrated ability to manage complex service-level agreements (SLAs), driving vendor performance through data-driven accountability and standard work audits.
  • Execution & Efficiency: Proven success in driving daily operational tasks in a high-velocity environment, consistently meeting or exceeding fleet uptime and NRR (Non-Road Ready) targets.
  • Project Leadership: Experience managing multiple technical projects simultaneously, ensuring high-quality outcomes and timely delivery within a rapidly evolving industry.
  • Analytical Rigor: Strong ability to interpret complex datasets to identify operational gaps, mitigate risks, and make informed decisions that impact market-level economics.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced skills in risk assessment and long-term prioritization, with the ability to build "safety valve" contingencies for fleet operations.
  • Expertise in fostering cross-functional alignment between Ops, GPS (Global Operations & Property Services), and external hardware partners.
  • A history of elevating technical teams through structured guidance, clear objective setting, and a "lead-by-example" mentorship style.
  • Expertise in identifying potential hardware or infrastructure challenges before they impact service, developing comprehensive remediation steps.
  • Ability to translate high-level organizational goals into actionable field strategies that inspire and motivate both internal and vendor teams.
  • Deep understanding of the autonomous vehicle ecosystem, including the intersection of software deployment cycles and physical fleet maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Drive fleet readiness across a portfolio of platforms within the market, ensuring the AV fleet meets stringent performance benchmarks and "ready-for-service" standards.
  • Provide dotted-line leadership and technical oversight to a multi-site team of Diagnostic Technicians, setting daily priorities and ensuring high-quality execution of complex sensor and EV powertrain calibrations.
  • Manage complex service-level agreements (SLAs) while ensuring third-party partners are appropriately staffed and technically trained to support multi-platform EV operations. Experience auditing vendor "Standard Work" and safety certifications is essential.
  • Implement proactive strategies to maintain the health of an electric ride-hail fleet, collaborating cross-functionally to resolve charging, battery, and hardware infrastructure gaps.
  • Monitor real-time fleet health metrics to identify systemic issues, implementing rapid-response corrective actions in partnership with internal engineering and external vendors.
