Requirements

  • Regular and predictable attendance.
  • Compliance with company safety, attendance, and all other company policies.
  • Good communication skills with peers and supervisors.
  • Sewing skills and the ability to cross-train on hemming, overlock, felling, single needle, binding and tacking processes.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequently changing priorities.
  • Some computer knowledge and ability to utilize data collection systems, including data entry into a tablet or computer.
  • Knowledgeable use of sewing machine (e.g., changing needle, changing thread, and bobbins).
  • Must have 20/20 vision or corrected to 20/20.
  • Ability to stand for a full shift.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to work in a moderate noise level.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to reach, stretch, and bend.
  • Ability to perceive colors and shades of colors.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 to 3 months industrial sewing and/or training preferred but not required.
  • Basic knowledge of all job functions within the department and ability to assist in all areas as needed (Sewing Lead).
  • Ability to count production work and report to supervisor (Sewing Lead).
  • Ability to train new sewing personnel (Sewing Lead).
  • Ability to communicate with Supervisor to assist with problem solving and offer suggestions for continuous improvement (Sewing Lead).
  • Ability to set up daily workflow and assist department personnel in solving any work in process problems (Sewing Lead).
  • Knowledge of the location of all items within the department and ability to assist with locating them (Sewing Lead).
  • Ability to fill in for Supervisor at meetings as needed (Sewing Lead).
  • Ability to assist manager in handling daily personnel issues (Sewing Lead).
  • Capability to assemble Marine Custom products, including hook and loop sewing operations, special strap installation, and patches (Level 3 Custom Operator).
  • Ability to decipher assembly process of one-of-a-kind products via pattern sheets and working knowledge of boat types, covers, and required assembly processes (Level 3 Custom Operator).

Responsibilities

  • Perform sewing functions to assemble parts of products under limited supervision.
  • Receive product parts, learn the order of parts, draw threads through needles, and adjust machine functions to meet sewing project requirements.
  • Solve problems and work as a team to continuously improve production processes and achieve daily production goals.
  • Complete assigned sewing work with acceptable productivity and output rates.
  • Notify supervisors of any problems or discrepancies during the sewing process.
  • Perform daily maintenance on machines in the area as assigned.
  • Practice energy conservation, such as turning off machines when not in use.
  • Follow instructions and complete other work as assigned.
  • Assist with inventory.
  • Handle daily personnel issues.
