About The Position
Responsible for putting a roll of borders (mattress sidewall cloth) on a spindle for a cutting machine. The rolls are 25-50 pounds. Handles are loaded to feed shuts at the top of the machine. The operator enters the product number on a touch screen and the machine will attach handles and cuts the border to length. The operator will then sew the border closed and move to a storage cart.
Requirements
- Continuous walking short distances within the workstation.
- Frequent repetitive use of hands/arms while loading the machine, entering product numbers, and operating the sewing machine.
- Occasional bending over while moving border rolls.
- Occasional overhead reaching while loading machine with components.
- Occasional pushing and pulling of rolls and borders.
- Occasional repetitive use of one foot to operate the sewing machine.
- Occasional grasping of border edges, paperwork, and scissors while closing the border.
- Occasional lifting and carrying of border rolls weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Occasional fine manipulation required to adjust the machine.
