About The Position

Tom Drexler Plumbing, Air & Electric is hiring a Sewer Installation Technician to lead residential sewer excavation and installation projects throughout the Louisville, Kentucky area. The role oversees projects from planning through completion, including coordinating materials, equipment, labor, and timelines; operating excavation equipment; directing a field crew; and ensuring safe, accurate, high-quality work. The technician communicates with customers, Estimators, and supervisors, addresses job-site challenges, maintains project and inventory documentation, and represents the company professionally. The position involves traveling among job sites, working outdoors in varying weather, and lifting and transporting materials weighing up to 70 pounds. A flexible schedule may include early mornings, extended hours, weekends, and holidays when business needs require. Requirements

Valid Kentucky Journeyman or Master Plumbing License.
Residential plumbing and sewer installation experience.
Strong understanding of excavation methods, sewer installation procedures, tools, and equipment.
Ability to safely operate a backhoe.
Previous experience leading or supervising a field crew.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Ability to manage project timelines, materials, and job-site expectations.
Ability to obtain a DOT physical if required.
Ability to lift and transport materials weighing up to 70 pounds.
Ability to travel throughout the assigned service area to multiple job sites.
Comfort working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, extended hours, weekends, and holidays when business needs require.

ServiceTitan experience preferred.
OSHA and other safety certifications strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Oversee all phases of residential sewer excavation and installation, ensuring work is completed safely, accurately, and efficiently.
Operate backhoes and other excavation equipment as needed.
Coordinate project materials, equipment, labor, and timelines.
Review project scope and installation requirements with the Estimator before beginning work.
Identify job-site challenges and develop solutions to ensure proper completion.
Lead and direct crew members, assign responsibilities, and ensure work meets company standards.
Monitor project progress and manage time and resources effectively.
Communicate project updates, delays, and potential concerns to supervisors and Estimators.
Promote teamwork, accountability, and safe work practices.
Communicate professionally with customers throughout projects and ensure completed work meets quality standards and customer expectations.
Obtain required customer signatures and approvals before leaving the job site.
Collect outstanding customer balances when applicable.
Follow company safety policies and applicable OSHA requirements.
Maintain accurate records of materials used and inventory carried on company vehicles.
Complete daily safety inspections, Competent Person checklists, and truck walk-around forms using the company tablet.
Operate equipment and vehicles safely and immediately report safety concerns, equipment issues, and job-site complications.
