About The Position

Sonoco is hiring a Set Up Operator for its Charleroi, Pennsylvania, manufacturing operation. Reporting directly to the Shift Manager, the operator safely operates production equipment using standard operating procedures and provides assistance in various areas of the manufacturing process as directed. The role supports plant goals and customer requirements, with safety as the top priority.

The position is listed as a second-shift role, Tuesday through Friday from 4:30 PM to 3:00 AM, with occasional Monday overtime from 4:30 PM to 3:00 AM depending on business demands. Pay is $28.14 per hour plus a $0.50 shift differential.

Requirements

• Be able to read a ruler within 1/32 inch.
• Be able to add, subtract, and multiply numbers, including fractions.
• Demonstrate knowledge of or ability to learn safety rules, procedures, and operating policies and procedures.
• Communicate effectively with others.
• Maintain good attendance and be reliable and dependable.
• Be able to work in a fast-paced industrial environment.
• Repeatedly lift up to 30 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Set up machinery used in the production process.
• Manually catch bundles and palletize products made in production.
• Examine products to verify they conform to quality standards.
• Observe equipment operations to detect malfunctions and notify operators.
• Manually lift raw materials, unfinished products, and packing items.
• Count finished products to determine whether product orders are complete.
• Mark or tag identification on parts.
• Load and unload items from machines to conveyors and conveyances.
• Assist production workers with duties such as supplying or holding materials or tools and cleaning work areas and equipment.
• Record production information, including product counts, dates, and times.
