The MACHINIST will be responsible for setting up and operating milling machines as defined in job routings, performing complex machining projects, and modifying machine programs to manufacture precision parts.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in machining.
  • Minimum 5+ years of CNC Machinist experience with emphasis on set up and operation.
  • Listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Able to read programs and understand what dimensions each tool is creating.
  • Firm understanding of tool geometry and applications of different tool types.
  • Knowledge of GD&T principles.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, adapt to shifting priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Problem solving and decision-making skills and the ability to think independently.
  • Must be able to work in other areas on an as needed basis.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to collaborate and work well with others.
  • Show initiative in work by being a self-starter, suggesting new ideas for completing a job, giving input as to how to improve the efficiency of a job, and organizing work time in order to complete jobs in a timely matter.

Responsibilities

  • Reads and understands blueprints, job routings, set up sheets, and charts for specifications such as dimensions, tolerances, and tooling instructions.
  • Loads and sets tools, understanding run out, tool length stick outs, and proper holder selection.
  • Creates and reviews set up sheets for critical information and proper set up instructions.
  • Designs and creates fixtures and work holding.
  • Edits programs with proper approval and manually programs at the machine when needed.
  • Loads, sends, and reviews programs for accuracy and completeness.
  • Recognizes, understands, and adjusts or replaces dull or chipped tooling, and understands tool life.
  • Runs more than one machine where cycle time permits.
  • Performs Quality Control Characteristics documentation of tolerance zones specified on blueprints.
  • Performs detailed inspection using a variety of inspection processes with a firm understanding of measurement equipment.
  • Trains and supports others within the area of expertise.
  • Creates processes and work instructions or set up sheets for straightening parts.
  • Conducts self in a manner consistent with company mission, values, code of ethics, policies, and other standards of conduct.
