Paramount Settlement Advisors is a leading settlement planning provider partnering with personal injury law firms to deliver planning-first solutions for plaintiffs and their families. Our work incorporates complex legal review, public benefit analysis, and planning strategies designed to protect clients’ long-term interests at the time of settlement and beyond. Our focus is to provide services that help ensure accurate and complete health insurance liens associated with personal injury recoveries, while supporting plaintiffs as they transition to life after settlement. Our lien resolution and settlement planning teams work closely together, so attorneys and plaintiffs receive clear, consistent guidance and can move through the settlement process with confidence. We’re seeking an experienced attorney for the role of Settlement and Benefits Coordinator who understands the importance of protecting injured clients at the time of settlement. This role functions as a collaborative team member, working alongside other attorneys in settlement execution, attorney-facing communication, and benefits-related coordination. The role requires strong drafting skills, the ability to prioritize shifting deadlines, and a proactive mindset, with increasing independence and autonomy as experience develops. This is an execution-focused position, not a litigation role, for an attorney who can anticipate challenges, balance immediate settlement needs with long-term client protection, and deliver clear, defensible work while guiding complex settlement matters to completion. In this role, we expect you to be capable of operating within established legal and operational guardrails. You will step in where nuance, complexity, or legal judgment calls for experienced attorney involvement. The position combines hands-on legal execution with direct coordination with attorneys and other external stakeholders, with a focus on advancing settlement matters efficiently while protecting client interests.

Requirements

  • Licensed attorney in good standing in New York
  • 2-4 years of legal experience in personal injury, special needs planning, estate-related matters, or a related practice area
  • Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to clearly and professionally convey complex issues
  • Ability to collaborate and coordinate effectively with attorneys, clients, and professional partners to develop and implement settlement and benefits planning strategies
  • Experience drafting, reviewing, or revising legal documents, including settlement releases, agreements, or court-related materials
  • Strong problem-solving and forward-thinking abilities, including the capacity to anticipate potential challenges and proactively develop solutions in complex matters
  • Interest in developing deeper expertise in settlement strategies, public benefit considerations, and benefits-related issues

Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and finalize case releases, court order language, and other materials requiring court approval
  • Review and refine attorney-facing correspondence to ensure clarity, accuracy, and defensibility
  • Act as the internal authority on SSI and SSD benefits considerations related to settlements
  • Conduct focused legal research on complex or emerging issues and provide practical guidance
  • Assist in resolving complex settlement matters involving trusts, structured settlements, health insurer reimbursement rights, and other financial solutions
  • Communicate directly with insurance carrier counsel and representatives to advance matters and resolve issues
  • Advocate for clear expectations and appropriate outcomes that protect client interests
  • Manage escalated attorney-to-attorney communications with professionalism and follow-through
