About The Position

The Setup Technician is responsible for setting up, adjusting, and maintaining wire manufacturing equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production. This position supports production operations by performing machine changeovers, tooling installations, process adjustments, and troubleshooting equipment issues while maintaining quality and productivity standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 5 years of manufacturing setup, machine operation, or industrial maintenance experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret production specifications, blueprints, and work instructions.
  • Knowledge of measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and wire gauges.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and set up equipment safely.
  • Basic computer skills for production reporting and data entry.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and prepare wire machinery according to production schedules and specifications.
  • Install and adjust tooling, guides, rollers, welding heads, dies, fixtures, and machine components.
  • Perform machine changeovers for different mesh sizes, wire diameters, widths, and product configurations.
  • Verify machine settings to include wire spacing, mesh dimensions, welding parameters, tension, and feed rates.
  • Assist with first-piece inspections and test runs to ensure product quality and compliance with customer requirements.
  • Monitor equipment performance and make adjustments to maintain production efficiency and product consistency.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and process-related issues.
  • Perform machine changeovers and line clearances while minimizing downtime.
  • Work closely with operators, quality personnel, and supervisors to resolve production issues.
  • Complete setup documentation, production records, and maintenance logs accurately.
  • Assist with preventive maintenance activities and equipment inspections.
  • Follow all safety procedures, lockout/tagout requirements, and company policies.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
