About The Position

The Set Up Mechanic prepares and maintains equipment for optimal performance, with a focus on changeovers for thermoforming machines, including cutting stations and tooling. The role minimizes downtime through precise setup and maintenance. Responsibilities also include supporting production and maintenance activities and following company policies and procedures related to employment, safety, quality, product safety and legality, security, and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

Proven mechanical ability.
Basic knowledge of electrical controllers and circuits.
In-depth, detailed knowledge of thermoforming, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical processes.
Ability to work overtime if needed.
High school diploma or equivalent trade school diploma.

Nice To Haves

Three years of experience in thermoforming, machine maintenance, and plastics.

Responsibilities

Inspect and organize tooling before and after use, confirm components are functional, and report performance deviations so tools can be repaired before installation.
Maintain safety switches and guards, follow lock-out procedures, keep changeover areas clean and organized, and report unsafe conditions immediately.
Train operators on basic safety and operational procedures.
Set up forming and trimming equipment to ensure high-quality parts.
Collaborate with management on repairs, preventive maintenance, and equipment improvements.
Assist the maintenance department as production allows and support the Production Manager with additional tasks as needed.
Follow applicable company policies and procedures concerning employment, safety, quality, product safety and legality, security, and regulatory compliance.
