About The Position

Lancaster Metal Manufacturing, a subsidiary of U.S. Boiler Company, is seeking a Set-Up and Machine Operator for their sheet metal shop. This role involves setting up and operating machinery, using various measuring instruments, hand and power tools, and reading blueprints. The company produces residential and commercial heating products designed, engineered, and manufactured domestically. The facility is located in Lancaster, PA, and employs nearly 300 people.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to reach up to 7 feet
  • Experience with hand, power, and measuring tools
  • Ability to read blueprints and/or diagrams

Responsibilities

  • Installs various types of machines, dies per verbal instructions and/or work orders.
  • Obtains dies, etc. from storage racks and installs by means of cranes, powered truck and/or hand truck.
  • Uses proper tools to set-in, tighten, level and adjust dies at correct tolerances for operation of machine.
  • Remove dies as required.
  • Uses various types of measuring instruments, such as rules, gauges, calipers, etc.
  • Operates all machinery in department as required.
  • Operates powered truck and/or hand truck as required.
  • May be required to move material in and out of department.
  • From blueprints provided, lay-out opening, shapes, etc., on sheet metal in flat position.
  • Uses various measuring instruments such as rules, calipers, straight-edge, squares, compass, scribe, dividers, etc.
  • Operates various machines in department such as punch press brake, cutting machine as required.
  • May be required to operate powered truck and/or hand truck.
  • Refers unusual problems to supervisor.
  • Performs other work as directed commensurate with this or lesser rated labor grades
