About The Position

This position is for DRM400H1F L0101 Advanced Performance, a 0.50 credit course that builds on previous training in acting and performance. The course focuses on developing students’ acting and performance skills through monologues and collaborative scene work, emphasizing character development, and the emotional and technical aspects of the actor's craft. It is designed to support the work in DRM403Y Mainstage Performance. The estimated course enrollment is 16 students, with no estimated TA support. The class is scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3pm to 5pm, with a tutorial on Tuesdays from 5pm to 6pm. The sessional dates are from September 1, 2026, to December 31, 2026.

Requirements

  • Evidence of recent teaching effectiveness in acting/performance, including elements of voice and movement at a recognized theatre school or university.
  • Extensive professional acting/theatre experience (minimum 5 years).

Nice To Haves

  • MFA in Acting/ Performance/Directing.
  • Diploma in voice/ movement training from an accredited institution.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a detailed course syllabus and curriculum, in collaboration with the Mainstage instructor for DRM403Y (Mainstage)
  • Plan and deliver in-person lectures
  • Design, assign, and evaluate individual and group-based assessments
  • Assess and evaluate student performance
  • Design and invigilate assignments, tests and exams (if applicable)
  • Hold regular office hours and meet with students as needed
  • Manage course content and grades on Quercus, CIS and Emarks
  • Handle other pedagogical and administrative tasks typically associated with the teaching of an undergraduate course
