This course focuses on understanding the politics of education policy development and using this knowledge for political analysis. By surveying different theories from political science and public policy and exploring different examples of education policy in different contexts, students will be able to analyze education policy issues, formulate strategies to advocate, support, or prevent education policy changes, and foresee potential political problems of policies. Ultimately, the course develops two types of skills: skills to conduct strategic political analysis, and research skills for using transdisciplinary theories to address education policy problems in a comparative way. The estimated course enrollment is 25 students, with no TA support. The class schedule is Tuesday from 17:00 to 20:00, online synchronous. The sessional dates of appointment are from September 1, 2026, to December 31, 2026.
