About The Position

The Master of Data Analytics (MDA) program at the University of Niagara Falls Canada (UNF) is seeking applications for sessional instructor positions for the Summer 2026 academic term. UNF is an innovative, digitally oriented institution opening in 2024, focused on preparing graduates for leadership in the digital world and high-demand industries. The MDA program aims to develop big data professionals by providing core training in the Data Science Lifecycle, from problem framing to data visualization, using real-world case studies, internships, and a capstone project. This is a hybrid role requiring instructors to teach on-site for a minimum of 2 days per week, depending on their teaching schedule.

Requirements

  • PhD in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with Power BI, Tableau, and DAX.
  • Strong understanding of data visualization principles and data storytelling.
  • Proficiency in databases, including SQL, data modeling, and ETL processes.
  • Experience working with large datasets and cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS) with proficiency in Python or R for data analysis.
  • Excellent presentation skills with the ability to explain complex topics in an accessible way to students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Creative problem-solving abilities, especially in integrating real-life case studies and practical examples into the curriculum.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, diplomacy, and discretion in dealing with colleagues and students.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities in a high-pressure environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior teaching experience at the post-secondary level is considered an asset.
  • Industry experience in data analytics or business intelligence is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging lectures and instructional content across multiple delivery modes (in-person, online, or hybrid) to create an inclusive, dynamic learning environment.
  • Prepare, update, and maintain course materials, including assignments, quizzes, and exams, ensuring they are accessible and relevant.
  • Offer regular office hours to meet with students, address inquiries, and provide academic support.
  • Design and grade assignments, tests, and exams in a timely and consistent manner, providing meaningful feedback.
  • Collaborate on curriculum development to ensure course content aligns with industry standards and trends.
  • Use internal software to manage grades, track progress, and update students on course material.
