About The Position

Project Healthy Minds is a mental health nonprofit that runs like a tech startup, pioneering a first-of-its-kind model applying technology to address the growing mental health crisis. They are building the world’s first digital marketplace for finding mental health services. This role is a six-month engagement to build a new set of mental health services for their platform, focusing on upgrading the existing schema and curation pipeline as they expand the depth and breadth of services listed. The role involves considering user information needs, data acquisition challenges, overseeing the candidacy -> screening -> tagging pipeline, directing a team of specialists, and collaborating with product, engineering, and service partners to improve the platform’s offerings. The goal is to leave behind a documented, repeatable process and a better dataset.

Requirements

  • A working understanding of healthcare services data, ideally mental health specifically, including consumer needs, data sources, and frequency of change.
  • Strong data-schema and data-modeling judgment, with experience evolving schemas and opinions on what not to include.
  • Fluent in Postgres/SQL.
  • Instinct for how data fits into a product, reasoning from consumer needs to data supply.
  • Real experience running data operations with a human-in-the-loop or annotation component, including directing distributed specialists to a quality bar.
  • Experience owning KPIs for data accuracy and freshness and demonstrating improvements.
  • Quality-systems and taxonomy thinking; ability to write SOPs.
  • Comfortable working across product, engineering, and external partners.
  • Comfortable moving fast with limited scaffolding.

Nice To Haves

  • AI-/LLM-assisted curation workflows.
  • HL7, FHIR, or other health-data interoperability standards.
  • Experience building or maintaining a services dataset or provider directory.

Responsibilities

  • Steward and evolve the services data schema & taxonomy, providing input on additions, shifts, and associated sourcing/maintenance costs, with judgment on downstream data consumption.
  • Own and iterate the curation pipeline (sourcing, screening, and tagging) to make it better, faster, and more automated with engineering support.
  • Direct a small bench of data specialists, setting quality bars, writing SOPs, and overseeing the team to build out a substantial batch of services.
  • Work at the nexus of design, product, engineering, and service partners, liaising with multiple departments to identify high-value fields, refine candidacy review processes, and collaborate on data presentation to users.
  • Advise on internal tooling, acting as the primary user of admin, ingestion, dedup, and QA workflows to identify impactful improvements.
  • Document a transferable and clear playbook for the process.

Benefits

  • Hourly rate between $75 and $100, depending on experience, skills, and other relevant considerations.
  • Six-month engagement with defined scope and deliverables.
  • Potential for extension or conversion (not guaranteed).
  • Approximately 32 hours/week preferred.
  • Fully remote within the US.
  • Documentation and playbook are important deliverables.
  • Short paid work sample.
  • Potential use of AI tools in the hiring process to assist recruitment.
