About The Position

Performs general painting duties. This role involves performing prep work for painting tasks, general painting maintenance, refurbishment, and minimum sheetrock repairs. The position also requires operating MARTA maintenance vehicles, including those with manual transmissions, and operating painting support equipment such as stripping machines, man-lifts, and bucket trucks, as well as towing and transporting equipment on trailers. Other related duties may be assigned.

Requirements

• Completion of ninth grade or equivalent required.
• Must be able to read and write in order to follow schedules and written instructions.
• Must demonstrate the ability to operate painting support equipment, to include stripping machine, man-lifts, bucket trucks, etc.
• Must demonstrate the ability to load, tow and transport equipment on trailers.
• Must have 3 years of verifiable commercial painting experience.
• Must have a Commercial Driver's License or minimally possess a CDL permit (successfully have passed the written portion of the CDL exam).
• Employees will be required to obtain their CDL license within 90 days following employment.
• No DUI violations within the last 5 years.
• Ability to move and lift various materials and equipment weighing up to 75 lbs.
• Walks or stands up to 6 hours per shift.
• Sits for up to an hour per shift (including breaks, lunch, etc.).
• Must kneel, squat, stoop, or bend to perform tasks.
• Climbs stairs and ladders.
• Frequently reaches from floor to overhead level.
• Frequently bends forward at the lower back to perform tasks.
• Frequently lifts items which weigh up to 75 pounds.
• Uses a variety of hand tools and powered tools.
• Must pass a physical examination including alcohol and drug screen.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
• Must be certified as meeting the physical certification requirements of the U.S. Department of Transportation physical qualifications for drivers found in 49 C.F.R. Section 391.41, as also adopted by the Georgia Public Service Commission in its Transportation Rule 1-14-1-01.
• This job requires operation of a MARTA motor vehicle.
