About The Position

This role focuses on the custom development of ServiceNow applications. The engineer will design and develop custom ServiceNow applications using App Engine Studio and/or traditional scoped application development. They will build solutions beyond out-of-the-box functionality, including custom modules, data models, and platform extensions. The engineer will also clone, extend, and customize existing ServiceNow modules to meet customer-specific requirements. Development of workflows, automation, and integrations with external systems (REST/SOAP APIs, third-party platforms) is also a key part of this role. The engineer will write, test, and debug ServiceNow scripts (Business Rules, Script Includes, Client Scripts, UI Policies, Flow Designer) and develop custom UI components (UI Pages, UI Actions, Service Portal elements). Ensuring solutions are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with ServiceNow best practices is crucial. The role involves analyzing requirements and translating them into technical solutions, including researching and adapting platform capabilities. Collaboration with developers and team members within an Agile/DevSecOps environment is expected. The engineer will work independently on development tasks and progress assigned work items through completion. Maintaining and applying knowledge of ServiceNow data structures (tables, dictionary, relationships, CMDB) and configuring and utilizing MID Server for integrations and data movement are also responsibilities. Implementing role-based access controls (RBAC) and platform security configurations, and adhering to security and compliance requirements (e.g., FedRAMP/DoD/STIG) are also part of the role. The work style expectations include operating with a high level of ownership and autonomy in a fully remote environment, proactively progressing work and seeking out additional tasks when current work is completed, and working closely with a small team, maintaining consistent communication and availability during the business day.

Requirements

  • 2 years with BS/BA; 0 years with MS/MA; 7 years with HS diploma
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Able to obtain a U.S. Secret clearance
  • Strong hands-on experience with ServiceNow development, including custom application and module development
  • Strong understanding of ServiceNow data architecture, including tables, relationships, and CMDB structures
  • Proficiency in JavaScript and the ServiceNow Glide API
  • Experience building and customizing applications beyond out-of-the-box functionality
  • Experience with ServiceNow domain separation concepts and implementation
  • Working knowledge of ServiceNow security (roles, groups, ACLs, data access controls)
  • Ability to independently analyze requirements and implement technical solutions
  • Experience with integrations, automation, and platform customization
  • Strong communication skills for working with stakeholders and translating requirements
