About The Position

Midwest Bus Sales Inc is seeking a Service Writer for a service/management position. This role requires a self-starter and strong leader who understands the importance of customer and coworker relationships. The Service Writer is responsible for maximizing the efficiency, revenue, and productivity of the service department while achieving the highest levels of customer satisfaction. Responsibilities

  • Greeting and communicating with customers on all aspects of repair, such as creating work orders, arranging scheduling, communicating work to technicians, and providing estimates to the customer and finalizing invoices.
  • Liaising between customers and service technicians to identify and sell vehicle repairs and maintenance.
  • Determining the need for repairs and maintenance by relying on information relayed by technicians, questioning customers thoughtfully, and researching vehicle history and other computer information.
  • Verifying work is properly diagnosed and performed while ensuring workflow is streamlined.
  • Scheduling and managing service workflow according to priority lists.
  • Advising customers of necessary repair service, including estimates of cost, and making recommendations for additional preventative maintenance work.
  • Keeping the shop area clean and organized.
  • Ensuring the safety of service technicians and maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Assisting service personnel in diagnostics as needed.
  • Recommending new shop equipment or technician training to cut costs or increase shop efficiency.
  • Working with the parts department to ensure all repair parts needed are available prior to starting repair.
  • Making sure technicians manage repair order time punches and parts used.
  • Establishing and maintaining good working relationships with internal and external customers to encourage repeat and referral business.
  • Monitoring the progress and completion of vehicles in the shop, ensuring proper repair and safety procedures are followed.
  • Handling customer complaints immediately and in accordance with dealership guidelines.
  • Monitoring paper flow to ensure all documents are accounted for and closed in a timely manner.
  • Maintaining a professional appearance and attitude with co-workers, customers, and vendors.
  • Following and enforcing all company policies and procedures.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
