About The Position

Atlas Machine & Supply, Inc. is seeking a Service Technician for our Akron, Ohio location. This role involves a diverse set of support skills, including the inspection, testing, adjustment, and repair of mechanical and electrical components in air compressors and pump systems used in commercial and industrial environments. Requirements

  • HS diploma or equivalent
  • Mechanical aptitude is required
  • Experience preferred but not required. Transferable skills include automotive/diesel mechanics, industrial maintenance, industrial HVAC/plumbing, electrical, heavy equipment mechanics, millwrights, mechanical installations/services.
  • Basic electrical knowledge
  • Must possess excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills
  • Flexibility in work schedule is required
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills, must possess tenacity and have the willingness to walk towards problems rather than away from them.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision
  • Above average computer skills to include the use of Outlook, Word as well as the use of web-based apps.
  • Ability to lift minimum of 70 lbs.
  • Bending, stooped, twisting and standing for long periods of time will be required
  • Position is subject to various climate conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Communicates with customers to understand system issues, discuss malfunctions, and provide follow-up recommendations.
  • Inspects equipment by visually examining, listening, and using diagnostic methods to identify problems.
  • Dismantles units to access and assess internal components.
  • Inspects, measures, and evaluates parts for wear, misalignment, or damage.
  • Repairs equipment by removing and replacing defective parts, realigning couplings or shafts, and fabricating or modifying components using tools such as a drill press or grinder.
  • Measures, cuts, threads, and install piping as needed for system functionality.
  • Tests repaired equipment by starting and adjusting controls per manufacturer specifications and verifies proper operation with the customer.
  • Drives and maintains a service van, ensuring it is serviced regularly and kept in good working condition.
  • Follows all company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
