About The Position

The Service Technician – Rental & Shutdown Services provides on-site and in-house technical service for Draeger Safety products including gas detection, Drug and Alcohol, respiratory equipment, etc., ensuring prompt and effective solutions to rental equipment issues. This role also provides onsite Draeger customer support for various rental projects throughout Canada. The position is based in the Sudbury Service Center and requires working 5 days a week.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree or Diploma in Electronics, related discipline or High School Diploma and equivalent combination of education & training that provides the required knowledge and skills.
  • Electronics background, with a medium-high mechanical aptitude
  • Previous work experience with electronics, mechanics, pneumatics, and software; repairs, maintenance, calibration and troubleshooting.
  • Industrial/Safety background or very familiar/close to that industry
  • Willing to travel (20% or greater), as necessary
  • 1-3 years of Customer Service experience preferably in a similar field.
  • Strong communication skills and be able to effectively articulate and communicate company and product information to external and internal customers on a daily basis
  • Able to pull/push products greater than 70 lbs. with mechanical assistance (pallet jack)
  • Able to ascend\descend tall ladders and lift product
  • Proficient in the use of PC applications including MS office suite, and able to use or learn other applications as business dictates
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams on assigned projects
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize workload
  • Must be customer focused
  • Demonstrated aptitude for learning new technologies
  • Must possess valid driver’s license and have acceptable driving record

Nice To Haves

  • Computer networking experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support during all phases of a Rental project. Assist in all pre & post phase operational requirements and work onsite with Draeger customers as required.
  • Carry out quality control and commissioning for systems and new instruments. Maintain internal qualification levels for Draeger service technicians. Maintain external courses that are required for entry to customer sites. Conduct in depth evaluation, diagnosis and repair of malfunctioning equipment. Follow all Draeger procedures for reporting defects and malfunctions including: FOA, Warranty and complaint forms etc.. All tasks are to be performed in accordance with the Draeger service procedures and policies, and the industry standards.
  • Maintain and improve warehouse structure/organization and conditions as required by both rental and demonstration equipment operations. Support warehouse/logistics to locate and pack customer orders for shipment. Keep accurate inventory of equipment, spare parts and accessories utilizing PointOut software.
  • Provide calibration certificates and any required communication and paperwork in a timely fashion to drive high impact services to Draeger customers. All Draeger equipment will be maintained according to and strictly adhering to approved Draeger instructions and best practices. Efficiently implement all Technical Service Bulletins that are applicable to the rental inventory. 3rd party rental equipment will be maintained following the manufactures recommendations and best practices.
  • Actively participate in mentoring of new employees. This includes RSMs, service and rental technicians, training instructors, marketing team and temporary employees. Training will follow Draeger’s IFU and best practices and utilize provided training material and aids.
  • Provide technical phone, email support to customers, Draeger sales personnel, Draeger distributors/partners, and Authorized Service Providers.
  • Promote customer satisfaction through proactive, professional and timely communication with the Customer.
  • Performs other duties as needed and assigned.
