About The Position

Jeff Wyler Kia of Fairfield is looking for a talented, hardworking, and motivated Service Technician to join our team. We're looking for someone who knows their way around a vehicle, takes pride in their work, enjoys solving problems, and understands that a good technician doesn't just replace parts — they diagnose the problem. Your mission is to keep our customers' vehicles running safely, reliably, and properly. You will diagnose, maintain, repair, inspect, and occasionally have a conversation with a vehicle to figure out what's wrong and fix it.

Requirements

  • Previous automotive technician experience preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair automotive mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Basic computer and diagnostic-tool skills.
  • Ability to safely operate shop equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with Service Advisors and other team members.
  • Ability to provide your own professional tools appropriate for the position.

Nice To Haves

  • Kia/Hyundai experience or factory training.
  • ASE certifications.
  • Experience with advanced diagnostic systems.
  • Electrical diagnostic experience.
  • ADAS experience.
  • Hybrid/EV experience.
  • Experience with modern scan tools.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance and scheduled services.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical concerns.
  • Perform brake, suspension, steering, and other automotive repairs.
  • Perform inspections and identify necessary repairs.
  • Use diagnostic equipment and scan tools to identify vehicle concerns.
  • Follow manufacturer repair procedures and dealership standards.
  • Complete repairs accurately and efficiently.
  • Communicate diagnostic findings and repair recommendations to the Service Advisor.
  • Perform quality-control checks on completed repairs.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of work performed.
  • Keep your work area clean, organized, and safe.
  • Properly use and maintain shop equipment and tools.
  • Stay current on vehicle technology, repair procedures, and training.
  • Work with fellow technicians, Service Advisors, Parts, and Management to keep the shop moving.
