Preston Phipps is looking to add a Service Technician to its Calgary team. Requirements

  • Diploma (or equivalent) from a technical program, or 1–2 years of relevant experience in controls/building automation systems (or equivalent combination)
  • Basic knowledge of HVAC systems and fundamentals
  • Experience with start-up and commissioning of HVAC equipment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Comfortable working at heights and using ladders
  • Willingness to travel as required
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Valid driver’s license (minimum 12 months) with a clean driving record

Responsibilities

  • Perform field start-ups, troubleshooting, and commissioning of mechanical/HVAC equipment
  • Carry out mechanical repairs and preventive maintenance within the assigned territory
  • Dismantle, repair, and reassemble mechanical equipment
  • Conduct energy audits and identify optimization opportunities
  • Work independently while managing priorities and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings, control schematics, and electrical diagrams
  • Assess site conditions, identify issues, coordinate materials, and support installation and repair work
  • Communicate effectively with contractors, customers, electricians, and other trades
  • Maintain assigned inventory and company equipment
  • Complete all required documentation (time sheets, service reports, job progress)
  • Provide training and follow-up support at customer sites
  • Stay up to date on products, systems, and industry developments
  • Work with third-party equipment and controls, including BACnet, Modbus, and other building automation systems
