About The Position

This is a DirectHire Service Technician opportunity with a rate of $32-35/hr in West Chester, OH. The role involves both in-house and in-field responsibilities. In-house duties include performing quality control functions, testing and maintaining equipment, and conducting final product tests. You will also participate in troubleshooting systems in cooperation with engineering and assembly teams. For customer support, you will provide technical assistance via telephone to troubleshoot systems, offer recommendations, and provide instructions for service, procedures, or replacement parts. In-field responsibilities include participating in the setup and installation of finished products at customer locations, training customer personnel on operation, maintenance, and minor repairs. You will perform startup of assemblies, note system irregularities, and make recommendations. Collaboration with other service personnel to solve customer problems and retrofit equipment is also part of the role. You will contact internal departments and external vendors to resolve field issues. This position requires approximately 75% travel, with the expectation of being home every weekend.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent, plus two years Associate degree or equivalent experience in electrical/mechanical engineering or related field.
  • 1 year relevant experience with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in commercial HVAC and DDC controls and/or PLC/HMI/communication protocol program understanding, writing, and revising, and troubleshooting experience is required.
  • Ability to work independent, team oriented, flexible, and adaptive to company, department, and customer requirements.
  • Budget conscience.
  • Professional appearance, good communication skills and professional conduct are a necessity.
  • Willingness to travel extensively (mostly national with some international travel possible).
  • Must be fluent in English.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Read and understand electrical wiring schematics. Be able to troubleshoot systems by using the electrical schematics.
  • Read and understand PLC programming and ladder schematics, mechanical and electrical drawings, sequence of operations (SOO), and electronic/mechanical system designs.
  • Understand BAS communication protocols (BACnet, LonWorks, ModBus, etc.).
  • Service standards: Project ownership and customer satisfaction.
  • Computer knowledge: Microsoft Windows, Microsoft 365 (Office-Excel, Outlook), and network knowledge, along with various controller programming software platforms.

  • Spanish and other languages are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform quality control functions in production area to test assemblies, test, maintain, and/or repair testing equipment, or conduct final product tests.
  • Participate in quality control function with regards to troubleshooting systems in cooperation with engineering, mechanical and/or electrical assembly.
  • Provide technical assistance to customers via telephone communication to troubleshoot systems, to make recommendations and/or instructions with regards to service, procedures, or replacement parts.
  • Participate in setup and installation of finished product at customer location, to include the training of customer personnel in the operation, general maintenance and minor repair of the assembly.
  • Perform startup of assembly following installation at customer location, to include the noting of any system irregularities, problems or malfunctions that need to be addressed and making appropriate recommendations to the customer.
  • Work with other service personnel to solve customer related problems and/or to retrofit existing equipment as required.
  • Contact internal departments and/or personnel, and outside vendors to solve installation, service, or repair problems in the field.
