About The Position

Custom Truck One Source (CTOS) designs, assembles, sells, rents, and services trucks, cranes, and other heavy equipment for clients in utilities, telecom, construction, forestry, oil, and rail industries. This role is primarily responsible for performing vehicle troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance on various heavy equipment, both in the field and at the service center, adhering to dealer and factory standards.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Two years of related experience (Shop Tech).
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license.
  • Must have your own tools.
  • Proficient in documentation using software, meeting deadlines and schedules.

Nice To Haves

  • Electrical, schematic / blueprints, hydraulic, welding, and related experience.
  • Experience with Quick Serve, DTNA, or related diagnostic software.
  • DOT, ANSI, and Dielectric testing desired.

Responsibilities

  • Perform vehicle troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance on chassis and track mounted aerials, digger derricks, cranes, high rail, and other equipment.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and repair orders/instructions.
  • Utilize laptop for accessing information and performing diagnostic tests.
  • Perform work as outlined in work instructions efficiently, accurately, and in accordance with CTOS standards.
  • Diagnose and repair LMI (Load Moment Indicator) and CAN bus (Controller Area Network) systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair Utility trucks & Equipment, including electrical and hydraulics.
  • Inspect and service vehicles, making repairs and adjustments at the service center and in the field.
  • Verify work performed and road test vehicles as necessary.
  • Prepare inspection reports, repair orders (recording service time and parts costs), and timecards completely and accurately.
  • Tag all warranty and core parts for return.
  • Advise management immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the time promised.
  • Attend CTOS safety training and follow all safety requirements.
  • Attend CTOS and factory-sponsored training classes.
  • Understand and follow federal, state, and local regulations, such as those governing the disposal of hazardous wastes.
  • Communicate with customers and internal departments to ensure minimal equipment downtime.
  • Work closely with the Service Manager to grow and improve customer satisfaction.
  • Perform additional duties or responsibilities as designated by the Service Manager.
