About The Position

This role is for a Service Technician (Marine) within the MaK Americas workshop team, focusing on medium-speed engines. The employee will provide technical service in the workshop on components like cylinder heads, injection equipment, and turbochargers. Requirements

  • Mechanical/Machinery: Knowledge of machines and tools; ability to use knowledge of machinery or mechanical objects including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Planning and Organizing: Knowledge of the process of planning and arranging tasks and resources; ability to plan and organize both time and resources to get things completed while structuring and maintaining work in a systematic and highly methodical way.
  • Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
  • Service Excellence: Knowledge of customer service concepts and techniques; ability to meet or exceed customer needs and expectations and provide excellent service in a direct or indirect manner.
  • Technical Troubleshooting: Knowledge of technical troubleshooting approaches, tools, and techniques; ability to anticipate, recognize, and resolve technical issues on hardware, software, application, or operation.
  • Total Productive Maintenance (TPM): Knowledge of total productive maintenance principles, methods, and processes; ability to maximize machinery effectiveness through active involvement of all supporting departments.
  • Minimum 2 - 4 years’ service experience at large Diesel-, Gas or DF-Engines.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Teams, Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Be at least 21 years of age and have a clean driving record, which generally means: No more than (2) moving violations within the last 12 months. No more than three (3) moving violations in the past three (3) years.

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in related field or industrial or engine mechanic or mechatronics or many years of professional experience
  • Caterpillar Motoren / MaK or comparable engines, product and service knowledge/experience
  • Willingness to familiarize yourself with new technologies and ongoing training
  • Confident handling of drawings and BOM
  • Strong awareness of quality and safety
  • Safe handling of measuring equipment and tools
  • Nondestructive testing experience (Dye penetrant and MPI) or willing to learn
  • Good internal verbal and written communication
  • Willingness to travel

Responsibilities

  • Repair, overhaul, assembly, disassembly, cleaning, analysis, and documentation of all components of the REParts program, used engines and parts, and customer-delivered orders, with a focus on cylinder heads, injection equipment, and turbochargers.
  • Assembly, analysis, processing, and documentation of new components such as cylinder heads, connecting rods, and injection nozzles.
  • Assembly and conversion work on diesel, dual fuel, and gas engines within the ESG upgrade solution matrix.
  • Coordinating daily work on the shop floor.
  • Training other colleagues in safety and quality.
  • Packaging, preservation, and transportation of finished components.
  • Performing material tests by NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) if necessary.
  • Participating in continuous service-related training to expand and develop existing know-how.
  • Performing on-board service operations on a small scale.
  • Supporting field service engineers.
  • Participating in 6Sigma projects.
