  • EPA Section 608 Universal certification required; additional credentials strongly preferred (NATE Advanced, specific manufacturer certifications, journeyman license, controls training, OSHA 30, etc.).
  • Advanced diagnostic and leadership skills: expert troubleshooting of wet-side (hydronic/chilled/hot water) and dry-side (air-side) systems, controls/DDC/BMS, VFDs, and integrated building systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, mentor effectively, make sound decisions under pressure, and deliver consistent high-quality results with minimal supervision.
  • Exceptional customer-service, communication (verbal/written), and problem-solving abilities; professional demeanor when interacting with facility managers, engineers, and executives.
  • Strong commitment to safety, reliability, quality workmanship, and a positive leadership attitude.
  • Ability to work in physically demanding conditions: lift up to 50 lbs, frequent bending/lifting, standing/walking on uneven terrain or in confined spaces, safely climbing ladders/scaffolding, and exposure to weather/elements.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record required.

Responsibilities

  • Leading complex service projects and high-priority calls: advanced diagnostics, major repairs, system overhauls, retrofits, and optimization of sophisticated HVAC plants (chillers, boilers, central plants, VRF/VRV, large-tonnage rooftop systems, air handlers, controls/DDC/BMS integration).
  • Performing expert-level troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, component replacement (compressors, heat exchangers, controls, variable frequency drives, etc.), refrigerant management, system balancing, startup/commissioning, and energy-efficiency upgrades.
  • Overseeing and directing junior technicians (Levels I–III) on-site: delegating tasks, demonstrating advanced techniques, ensuring quality/safety compliance, and providing real-time mentorship and training.
  • Serving as the primary technical point of contact for customers on critical accounts—explaining issues/solutions clearly, recommending preventative programs, system upgrades, or capital improvements, and building long-term trust.
  • Coordinating with dispatch, field leadership, parts/warehouse, and other trades to resolve escalated or multi-system issues efficiently.
  • Conducting thorough post-service reviews, documenting detailed reports (work orders, as-builts, photos, recommendations), and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives (process enhancements, safety protocols, training content).
  • Upholding and enforcing Modigent safety, quality, and documentation standards on every job, including high-risk or mission-critical environments.

Benefits

  • Competitive pay and benefits
  • collaborative culture
  • professional development support
  • real commitment to work-life balance
