Service Technician I
About The Position
The Service Technician I will perform routine inspections of equipment, checking for worn parts, leaks, and other issues. This role involves assisting senior technicians with more complex diagnostic tasks using both traditional tools and computerized equipment. The technician will also conduct scheduled preventive maintenance, assist with minor repairs and part replacements, and maintain accurate service records. Essential duties include welding, using cutting torches, installing and repairing equipment, calculating material measurements, evaluating weld quality, using measuring devices, performing basic math for fabrication, and welding/repairing vehicles/equipment.
Requirements
- Mechanical Aptitude: A natural talent for understanding how machines and systems work, including engines, components, and tools.
- Problem-Solving Skills: The ability to diagnose issues, troubleshoot problems, and determine the most effective repair solutions.
- Dexterity and Physical Strength: The job can be physically demanding, requiring you to lift heavy parts, work with a variety of tools, and be in uncomfortable positions (e.g., kneeling, bending, lying on your back). Good hand-eye coordination is also important.
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with a wide range of tools, from small hand tools to sophisticated computerized diagnostic equipment.
- Communication Skills: The ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, colleagues, and customers is essential. This includes explaining technical issues and maintaining accurate service records.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulousness is key to ensuring that equipment is properly maintained and repaired, and that all safety protocols are followed.

Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections of equipment, checking for worn parts, leaks, and other issues.
- Assist senior technicians with more complex diagnostic tasks using both traditional tools and computerized equipment.
- Conduct scheduled maintenance, which includes changing fluids (oil, coolant, hydraulic fluid), replacing filters, and lubricating components.
- Assist with minor repairs and part replacements, working on hydraulic systems, brakes, engines, and electrical systems.
- Disassemble and reassemble components.
- Maintain accurate service records, including detailed notes on work performed, parts used, and time spent on each task.
- Must have immediate knowledge of wire and stick welding.
- Must be able to use cutting torches.
- Install and repair various equipment and components.
- Calculate material measurements to verify specifications.
- Evaluate weld quality and tolerance.
- Must be able to use and read measuring devices including but not limited to square, levels and tape measures.
- Must possess basic math skills including but not limited to adding, subtracting, multiplication and division for the purpose of calculating material fabrication.
- Ability to weld and repair vehicles/equipment.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
