Service Technician 1 Trainee
About The Position
Summit Utilities is hiring a Service Technician I Trainee (SGL3) based in Pueblo West, Colorado. Candidates must live within a 30-minute commute of Pueblo West; relocation assistance is not available. Service Technicians maintain customer service standards while performing operational work in their assigned area. The work includes manual labor and other duties needed to install, repair, and maintain natural gas distribution facilities, respond to customer requests, and represent the Company in the community. This position is covered by D.O.T. regulations and Summit Utilities’ Drug and Alcohol Policy, including random drug testing. The duties listed describe the general nature of the role and are not an exhaustive list.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Proficiency using personal computers and software, including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Valid state driver's license and a good driving record; ability to operate company vehicles safely and in compliance with applicable laws and company policies.
- Ability to gain and apply knowledge of industry and company safety standards and regulations.
- Aptitude for basic mechanical tasks and ability to use appropriate tools, including installing and reading pressure gauges, voltage meters, and pipe locators; repairing service lines; bar testing and classifying underground leaks; and monitoring and adjusting gas system pressure.
- Ability to respond to customers courteously and knowledgeably in person and by telephone, using good judgment and customer service skills.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, projects, or activities through completion.
- Ability to adapt quickly and respond well to changing priorities.
- Ability to work independently and in a team-based environment to accomplish assignments and objectives.
- Commitment to comply consistently with applicable laws, regulations, Company policies and procedures, and Company values and business practices, and to complete required training courses in a timely manner.
- Must comply with D.O.T. regulations and Summit Utilities’ Drug and Alcohol Policy, including random drug testing.
Responsibilities
- Initiate gas service, investigate leaks, and make repairs.
- Locate gas lines.
- Read gas meters.
- Conduct load surveys.
- Complete work order system documentation.
- Serve as a First Responder in emergency situations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
