Requirements

  • Effective rapport with customers in person and via telephone.

Responsibilities

  • Observe mechanical devices in operation and listen for sounds to locate causes of trouble.
  • Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
  • Repair or replace defective parts.
  • Install special functional and structural parts in devices.
  • Lubricate and clean parts.
  • Start devices to test their performance.
  • Set up and operate drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to repair parts.
  • Provide technical support to internal staff and customers by answering questions and emailing breakdowns.
  • Provide assistance to walk-in customers at the service counter.
  • Handle cash and credit card transactions for account sales.
  • Prepare tool reports as required.
  • Maintain and sell additional stock.
  • Clean and organize work area on a daily basis.
  • Adjust functional parts or devices and control instruments.
  • Inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
  • Examine form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
  • Assist warehouse with modification of tools when needed.
  • Assist warehouse in shipping when needed.
  • Assist with physical inventories.
  • Assist other departments when needed.
