About The Position

Within the context of a client/patient and family centered care model and in accordance with the established vision and values of the organization, this position works under the functional direction of a Registered Nurse or other designate and in cooperation with the interdisciplinary team members to assist in the delivery of client/patient care. Performs duties such as cleaning, maintaining and ensuring equipment is in working order, providing client/patient care within scope of practice, transporting clients/patients to and from required areas using stretchers and wheelchairs, moving a variety of equipment within the unit, assisting nursing and technical staff with the lifting and transferring of clients/patients, providing support to clients/patients with dressing and/or bathroom care needs, assisting clients/patients with meals and maintaining supplies for various carts, rooms and storage areas; cleans equipment and designated areas as required to maintain a clean and safe environment for clients/patients and staff.

Requirements

• Grade 10
• Graduation from a recognized Resident Care Attendant program or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
• Ability to deal with others effectively
• Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
• Ability to organize work
• Ability to operate related equipment

Responsibilities
