About The Position

Requirements

  • 2 years' experience in tractor and trailer inspection and repair OR a technical school degree, or certification in Heavy Duty Truck/Trailer Maintenance.
  • Valid state-issued driver's license.
  • Brake inspection qualified as defined in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations, Section 396.25.
  • Vehicle Inspection qualified as defined in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations, Section 396.19.

Responsibilities

  • Performs minor to intermediate inspections, repairs, and replacements following company guidelines on all Walmart equipment (e.g., trailers, tractors, yard trucks, shop equipment, service vehicles) by creating and processing work orders.
  • Performs minor diagnostics with technical and electronic equipment on various Walmart equipment (e.g., tractor engine components, electronics, drive trains, minor HVAC).
  • Assesses maintenance, repair, and replacement needs, identifying needed parts and possible solutions.
  • Consults with others and selects the best possible solution.
  • Conducts repairs and replacements (e.g., repair drivetrain components, repairing and replacing communication equipment and onboard technology, tractor and minor trailer diagnostics of HVAC systems) following company and Department of Transportation (DOT) guidelines and requirements.
  • Communicates with individuals or groups (e.g., customers, suppliers, associates) verbally and in writing.
  • Receives fuel drops and conducts fuel sampling by monitoring the drop to ensure safety compliance, following procedures for fuel additives, monitoring tank levels before and after the drop, collecting and preparing fuel samples for analysis and shipping, and completing appropriate paperwork.
  • Correctly identifies and performs warrantable repairs by entering accurate information on the condition, cause, and correction into the maintenance system, completing warranty tags as needed, and ensuring parts are retained according to warranty guidelines and creating and processing warranty claims to ensure proper credit is received according to company guidelines.
