About The Position

Moves and cleans vehicles, keeps the service department clean and all the vehicles in order, and helps Service Writers as requested. The Service Porter is responsible for maintaining the appearance and order of the service department and customer vehicles. This includes washing, drying, and fueling vehicles, as well as ensuring the service lot is neat and organized. The role also involves greeting customers, managing service traffic, and assisting with administrative tasks at the service counter. A clean and safe service drive area is essential, and employees must adhere to company policies, including a no-smoking policy and maintaining a professional appearance.

Requirements

  • No prior experience or training.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple instructions.
  • Ability to observe deficiencies with appearance of facility and inventory and make recommendation to supervisor.
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Maintain driving record acceptable to dealership’s insurance company.
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Washing and drying of service customer vehicles.
  • Maintains new and used vehicle inventory appearance and performance by cleaning interior and exterior of vehicles, replenishing fuel as needed and replacing batteries when necessary.
  • Places buyer guides and stock tags in vehicles.
  • Keeps Service lot neat and orderly, moving cars as directed by the manager and in accordance with dealership safety standards.
  • Sweeps, shovels, or vacuums loose debris or salvageable scrap into containers and removes containers from work areas.
  • Inspects parts, equipment, or vehicles for cleanliness, damage, and compliance with standards or regulations
  • Drives vehicles to and from service lane, service stalls, and parking lot as needed.
  • Makes key tags for vehicles.
  • Greets all customers entering the service area with a friendly, upbeat attitude, answers their questions, and directs them to the appropriate person or location.
  • Controls service traffic flow and parking.
  • Determines if customers coming into service have an appointment.
  • Records customer's name, VIN, tag number, mileage, and existing vehicle damage.
  • Assists lot attendant with duties at the service counter.
  • Maintains a clean and safe service drive area, free of dirt, water, leaves, snow, etc.
  • Completes and maintains all required training.
  • Comply with No Smoking Policy with no residual smoke odor.
  • Maintains a professional appearance.
