About The Position

Vertical Mechanical Group (VMG) is seeking an experienced Service Plumber based in Sterling, Virginia, to support commercial customers throughout the DMV region. In this role, you will diagnose plumbing issues, perform repairs and maintenance, and communicate clearly with customers about your findings and recommended solutions. The ideal candidate works confidently in occupied commercial buildings, takes ownership of service calls, and delivers safe, lasting repairs. Requirements

Minimum 2 years of commercial plumbing service or closely related experience
Strong troubleshooting and repair skills with commercial plumbing systems
Experience working with domestic water, sanitary, and drainage systems
Ability to read plumbing drawings and use diagnostic tools
Ability to work independently, prioritize service calls, and communicate effectively with customers
Knowledge of plumbing materials, tools, and safe work practices
Valid driver's license and ability to travel to customer sites throughout the DMV region
Dependability, attention to detail, and pride in quality workmanship

Nice To Haves

OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred
Journeyman plumbing license preferred

Responsibilities

Diagnose and repair commercial plumbing systems, including domestic water, sanitary, and storm systems
Troubleshoot leaks, drainage issues, fixtures, valves, pumps, and other plumbing components
Perform scheduled maintenance, inspections, repairs, and replacements
Read plumbing drawings, equipment information, and service documentation to identify issues and plan repairs
Determine the materials, tools, and time needed to complete service work
Document findings, work performed, materials used, and any recommended follow-up
Coordinate with dispatch, supervisors, customers, and other trades to complete work efficiently
Explain plumbing issues and recommended repairs clearly and professionally
Protect customer property and maintain clean, organized work areas
Follow company safety policies and applicable site requirements
Test completed repairs and confirm systems are operating properly
Identify additional concerns and communicate them promptly
Represent VMG professionally at every customer site
