About The Position

The Service Manager is responsible for leading and managing the service, maintenance, and repair operations of CPE's pumps and related equipment. This position ensures that equipment is maintained in safe, reliable, and cost-effective condition, while supporting the company's sales and rental objectives. The Service Manager will supervise service technicians, coordinate preventive maintenance and repairs, manage outside vendors when needed, monitor service costs, and help ensure equipment is available when customers need it. This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who understands construction equipment, rental operations, and the importance of keeping equipment productive and on rent.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience servicing, maintaining, or repairing construction, industrial, heavy, or rental equipment.
  • Strong working knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret equipment service manuals, schematics, and diagnostic information.
  • Proven ability to provide leadership, direction, and mentorship to a team.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
  • Proficient computer skills and ability to use a variety of software (i.e. service-management, fleet-management, inventory, or work-order software).
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of supervisory or management experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of centrifugal pumps is ideal.
  • Experience with construction or equipment rental fleets strongly preferred.
  • CDL and DOT medical card preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day operations of the service department.
  • Establish and maintain efficient service processes and turnaround times.
  • Oversee the maintenance and repair of pumps and related equipment, assisting with complex diagnostics and repairs as needed.
  • Hire, train, coach, and develop shop and field service technicians and other service personnel.
  • Monitor labor, parts, warranty, and overall repair costs and identify opportunities to reduce repair costs and equipment downtime without compromising safety or quality.
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with company safety policies and applicable OSHA and other regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain safe shop and field service practices, including proper use of tools, lifting equipment, personal protective equipment, etc.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation of maintenance records, work orders, parts usage, labor hours, and equipment history.
  • Promote a professional, accountable, and safety-focused service culture.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Operations, and Fleet Management to maintain equipment availability and communicate issues that may affect customer commitments or project schedules.
