About The Position

This leadership position will manage Child Youth Services Workers. The successful incumbent will be responsible to inform and implement the organization’s Mission, Strategic and Operational plans through planning, developing and managing their designated service team in accordance with the organization’s approach to working with Indigenous communities; the organization’s anti-racist, anti-oppressive intersectional framework through a trauma-informed, healing-centered culturally responsive approach, organizational values, policies and procedures; Ministry Regulations, Standards and Directives and relevant legislation. This is a non-unionized position.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Social Services or equivalent degree plus experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the Child Welfare and/or Child Youth Mental Health sector.
  • Sound knowledge of the impact and risk of social issues in child welfare and/or child and youth mental health and/or youth justice and understanding of current relevant theories and best practices.
  • A thorough knowledge and understanding of all Quality Standard Framework (QSF) expectations for Children and Youth in Care, timelines and expectations outlined by the Ministry.
  • Clinical skills and decision making related to complex case management and consultation.
  • A thorough understanding of Voluntary Youth Service Agreement (VYSA) criteria, and eligibility.
  • A thorough knowledge of equity-based, clinical skill requirements, case management and therapeutic interventions as well as applicable Ministry Standards and legislation.
  • Sound knowledge of leadership and management theories, principles and best practices that are equity-centered and accounts for the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s recommendations that are child welfare focused.
  • A thorough understanding and approach to practice that is anti-racist, anti-oppressive, intersectional, trauma-informed, healing-centred and that prioritizes cultural safety and responsiveness.
  • A sound understanding of sector commitments/initiatives towards the engagement of Indigenous, Black, Francophone, refugee/immigrant and 2SLGBTQ+ communities in all their intersecting identities.
  • Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and supervisory roles and responsibilities under the Act.
  • Sound understanding of community resources and systems.
  • A valid driver’s license and use of a vehicle are required.

Nice To Haves

  • Management/leadership experience preferred.
  • Bilingualism (French/English) is a highly desired asset.
