SUMMARY OF POSITION The Service Manager will act as a resident expert for Ascent and Gemcor equipment installed at customer sites in the greater Seattle area. The expectation for this position is to be both the point of contact for service requests and to assist with the diagnosis and repair of equipment. The Service Manager should be able to identify where additional help or escalation is needed. This position will require travel on occasion to assist with customer equipment diagnosis and repair where specialized expertise is required. The role operates at both strategic and tactical levels, coordinating service projects and enforcing accountability while establishing and maintaining strong, professional customer relationships.

Requirements

  • Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful job performance will be considered. Typical qualifications would be: BS in Electrical / Electro-Mechanical Engineering, OR Technical Certificate and 3+ years of experience within the industrial automation industry or equivalent experience
  • Able to lift up to 50lbs
  • Able to work at the company or customer facilities, in excess of eight hours per day or 40 hours per week on a second shift and/or weekends if necessary
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Experience demonstrating problem solving abilities and resourcefulness
  • This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22.C.F.R. § is required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in aerospace manufacturing & assembly
  • Experience working in automation and/or machine tools industry
  • Familiarity with Siemens automation and controls systems
  • Ability to learn new software developments in automation
  • Capable of building automated assemblies
  • Basic knowledge of manufacturing practices including machining and automated drill and fill
  • Must be able to read and understand mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic blueprints
  • A demonstrated capability to think strategically and execute tactically
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills

  • 5-10 years of Field Service experience or 2-3 years Controls Engineer experience

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the on-site technical lead and primary point of contact for service-related issues at key customer locations in the Seattle area
  • Coordinates and interface directly with customers, suppliers, and other entities to ensure that all customer requirements, goals and objectives are fully understood and communicated to senior management
  • Diagnose and repair complex industrial control systems, including, but not limited to: PLCs, CNC controllers, field bus networks, and drive systems
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics and have ability to use multi-meter to diagnose electrical circuits
  • Support Service department by traveling to remote customer sites as necessary to perform planned preventive maintenance, machine controls upgrades, emergency service, and operator trainings for customers
  • Follow policy and procedures including safe working practices
  • Provide input for service bids and quotes
  • Automated controls system programming
  • Any additional duties assigned by management
