Service Manager - Commercial HVAC
About The Position
As a Service Manager at NTD Mechanical, you will oversee the daily operations, growth, and profitability of NTD Mechanical's HVAC service department. This leader will be responsible for managing 8-10+ HVAC service technicians, supporting dispatch and scheduling activities, driving customer satisfaction, improving operational efficiency, and helping grow a scalable service business across North Texas. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HVAC service professional who combines strong technical knowledge with leadership, business acumen, and a passion for developing people.
Requirements
- 10+ years of commercial HVAC service experience.
- 3+ years leading service technicians, supervisors, or service operations teams
- Strong knowledge of commercial HVAC equipment, including: Rooftop Units (RTUs), Chillers, Boilers, VRF/VRV Systems, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), Building Automation Systems (BAS)
- Experience managing dispatch priorities, service workflows, and customers
- Understanding of service department financials, labor utilization, gross margin, job costing, and operational KPIs
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and service management software.
- Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Ability to build teams, improve processes, and drive accountability.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- High school diploma or GED required; technical HVAC training preferred
Nice To Haves
- Familiarity with the North Texas commercial HVAC market
- Experience growing preventive maintenance and service agreement portfolios.
- Knowledge of Foundation or similar ERP/service management platforms.
Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and support a team of 8-10+ commercial HVAC service technicians.
- Oversee daily service operations, dispatch coordination, and technician scheduling.
- Monitor service department performance, productivity, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
- Support the growth of preventive maintenance agreements, service contracts, and recurring revenue opportunities.
- Assist with estimating, job costing, budgeting, and resource planning.
- Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support for complex service issues.
- Collaborate with service sales, project management, field operations, and accounting teams to ensure successful project execution.
- Review service reports, work orders, and invoicing for accuracy and timely completion.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive continuous improvement.
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, professionalism, and customer service excellence.
