This role specifically oversees and supervises Rehabilitation Services, including PT/OT/Speech and sports medicine for both inpatient and outpatient rehab.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Management or Health Care Administration.
  • Six years clinical background.
  • Three years of supervisory experience.
  • Current valid Physical Therapy (PT) license for the work state.
  • Ability to supervise multidisciplinary management (PT, OT, Speech) and personnel management at the professional and support level.
  • Knowledge in budgeting, performance improvement, and adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Ability for public speaking and frequent communication, oral and written, with physicians and other hospital staff.
  • Strategic planning and business proposal writing knowledge.
  • Ability to delegate and follow through on ideas/plans.
  • Promotes positive relations interacting with patients or other customers.

  • Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) strongly preferred at time of hire, required within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Promotes positive relations with patients, visitors, families, physicians, customers, and co-workers by greeting, smiling, making eye contact, introducing oneself, volunteering assistance, addressing others by surname, and responding quickly to needs, embodying the 'Culture of Engagement' and 'Standards of Compassionate Care and AIDET.'
  • Facilitates and directs strategic planning for Rehabilitation Services to achieve selected outcomes, developing and implementing yearly department goals and objectives in conjunction with the Vice President, and communicating progress quarterly.
  • Completes the Health System budget for Rehabilitation Services, reviewing staffing, operational, and capital budgets for presentation to the Vice President, monitoring budget variances, and adhering to financial planning principles.
  • Reviews justifications for capital expenditures and continuing education, approving or disapproving requests based on policy, budget, and employee development needs.
  • Identifies the need for departmental policies and procedures for Rehabilitation Services, assisting in their development and ensuring staff compliance with hospital policies, emergency procedures, universal precautions, MSDS, and infection control.
  • Encourages and directs professional employee development through performance appraisals, feedback, counseling, mentoring, disciplinary action, mediation, training, orientation, and competency assessment, and is accountable for managers.
  • Acts as a consultant and provides feedback on human resource management, including candidate selection, staffing levels, and employee relations, to ensure positive morale and quality care.
  • Delegates and assigns job responsibilities, including program development and administrative duties, and monitors for follow-through, providing feedback and guidance.
  • Assumes accountability for the quality of care and customer satisfaction for all Rehabilitation Services, directing and monitoring performance improvement initiatives and responding promptly to quality concerns.
  • Demonstrates support and commitment to all Health System entities by staying current on organizational issues and considering their impact in decision-making processes.
  • Actively promotes Rehabilitation Services and Methodist Health System through marketing, public relations, positive patient outcomes, and customer service, coordinating marketing efforts and communicating with physicians.
  • Establishes positive relationships and facilitates interaction with all Health System entities, participating in departmental and interdisciplinary meetings.
  • Supervises the duties of the Clinical Education Coordinator in scheduling, orienting, communicating, and evaluating student affiliations, reviewing required documentation and evaluating staff preparedness.
  • Evaluates patients to facilitate timely access to Rehabilitation Services and adequate staffing, establishing effective treatment programs, patient education, and home programs, ensuring age-specific care, and completing necessary reports.
  • Reviews and updates the Rehabilitation Services charge master in conjunction with CPT coding and market rates, analyzing the impact of coding changes and evaluating reimbursement patterns.
  • Communicates with prospective contractual relationships regarding pricing and responsibilities, monitors contract renewals, and ensures compliance with contract stipulations.
  • Directs, coordinates, and monitors construction activities for Rehabilitation Services, analyzing design options with architects.
