About The Position

Oversee and supervise Rehabilitation Services, providing leadership and management of PT/OT/Speech and sports medicine inpatient and outpatient rehab. Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Management or Health Care Administration.
  • Required six years clinical background.
  • Required three years of supervisory experience.
  • Current valid Physical Therapy (PT) license for work state.
  • Ability to supervise multidisciplinary management (PT, OT, Speech) and personnel management at the professional and support level.
  • Knowledge in budgeting, performance improvement and adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Ability of public speaking and frequent communication, oral and written, with physicians and other hospital staff.
  • Strategic planning and business proposal writing knowledge.
  • Ability to delegate and follow through on ideas/plans.
  • Promotes positive relations interacting with patients or other customers.

Nice To Haves

  • Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) strongly preferred at time of hire, required within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Promotes positive relations when interacting with patients, visitors, families, physicians, customers and co-workers.
  • Facilitates and directs strategic planning for Physical Therapy Departments to achieve selected outcomes as established by The Health System and Regulatory bodies.
  • Completes Health System budget for Physical Therapy.
  • Reviews justifications for capital expenditures and continuing education.
  • Identifies the need for departmental policies/procedures for Physical Therapy.
  • Encourages and directs professional employee development by completing performance appraisals, providing regular feedback, counseling, establishing mentoring relationships, disciplinary action, mediation, training, orientation and competency assessment within their assigned responsibility.
  • Acts as consultant and provides feedback to appropriate personnel on the effective management of human resources; including choosing the most appropriate candidates for jobs, providing for adequate staffing levels in review of productivity, revenue and expense, and handling employee relation issues to ensure positive morale and quality care.
  • Delegates and assigns job responsibilities including program development, administrative duties, communication, etc., and monitors for follow through.
  • Assumes accountability for the quality of care and customer satisfaction for all Physical Therapy Departments.
  • Demonstrates support and commitment to assist all Health System entities as well as other network allies in achieving their respective vision by remaining current on organizational issues and by considering them in decision making processes.
  • Actively promotes Physical Therapy Departments and Methodist Health System in a positive manner by marketing services, public relations, positive patient outcomes and attentiveness to customer service.
  • Establishes positive relationships and facilitates interaction with all Health System entities with special attentions to departments within the Hospital to ensure business objectives are met by focusing on needs and opportunities within the Health System.
  • Supervises the duties of the Clinical Education Coordinator in effectively scheduling, orienting, communicating and evaluating student affiliations.
  • Evaluates patients to facilitate timely access to Physical Therapy and adequate staffing for quality care by establishing effective/appropriate treatment programs, patient education and home programs as described in performance development plan for staff therapist.
  • Reviews and updates Physical Therapy charge master in conjunction with updates in CPT coding and market rates.
  • Communicates with perspective contractual relationships on pricing, responsibilities, wording, etc., according to guidelines established by general counsel, standards established and Vice President of Network Development.
  • Directs, coordinates and monitors any construction activities for Physical Therapy.
